We are looking for a talented downstream process veteran with proven leadership skills to join our dynamic organization. Qualified individuals will play a leading role in downstream process development for small molecules, proteins, and biosimilars. This position is expected to be mainly hands on in the laboratory. The person will be reporting to the CEO.
You will:
- Design and execute the development of a novel purification method for the small molecules of interest
- Use Design of Experiment (DoE) to screen purification conditions and optimize the process
- Plan, coordinate and execute activities for process monitoring and process data analysis
- Perform independent data recording, analysis and troubleshooting and support generation of SOPs, raw material specifications, batch records, and reports
- Lead and implement process scale-up activities
- Conduct technical investigations and risk assessments related with processes and provide process expertise in the resolution of complex technical or operational problems
- Implement continuous process improvement aimed at providing robustness, capacity, and productivity
- Determine root-causes of process variation and identify process trends to increase efficiency
Our ideal candidate will have:
- PhD or Master’s degree in Bioprocess Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline with 0-1 years of relevant industrial experience
- A previous track record of handling downstream processing of biosynthetic small molecules
- Relevant work experience in handling of preparative HPLC and associated chromatography equipment
- Ability to solve complex engineering problems involving Heat transfer, Mass transfer & fluid mechanics
- Sound understanding of concepts around involving precipitation, crystallization and related polymorphism concepts
- Ability to think critically, demonstrate troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Self-motivation with a strong sense of ownership in areas of responsibility and willingness to accept temporary responsibilities outside of initial job description
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
- Ability to work and collaborate in cross functional teams such as research, development, and manufacturing in a fast pace and dynamic team setting
- A clear willingness to “roll up their sleeves” and dive into the details
- Zeal to develop new bioprocessing and information technologies to help advance manufacturing
Nice to have:
- Previous experience of working with flexible schedule necessary to support occasional problem-solving and troubleshooting during off-hours
- Knowledge of current process technology trends in the field
- Experience with automation technologies is desired
